Being a stay at home parent is a 24/7 job. It requires constant attention, patience, and dedication. Yet, despite the immense amount of work they put in, stay at home parents are not paid for their efforts. This raises the question: why are stay at home parents not paid?

For me, I grew this human in my body, gave birth, but now I have to go back to work and leave my baby with a stranger everyday. Why? We have one life to live and we should be valuing every second we have being with and raising our own children.

When I had my first son I decided I had to stay home with him. I asked my employer at the time if I could continue to work from home, (I had been because it was 2020 and I was pregnant and asked to work from home) they said no, so I left my job. I wasn't going to work for a 9-5 anymore, this was my life now, to raise and care for my son. If I went back to work I would have to pay for daycare, so why don't the stay at home parents get paid?

These tasks are essential for the smooth functioning of a household, yet they are often taken for granted. If both parents worked, they would have to again, pay someone to do it.
